Frequently Asked Questions
  1. What is MapOn?
MapOn is a car fleet management and control system that uses GPS and GPRS technologies. You can track your vehicles from any place equipped with an Internet connection. The MapOn system will provide you with data on vehicle location, driving speed, stand-by time and fuel consumption, as well as enable the creation of convenient reports about your car fleet!
  2. What are requirements for using MapOn?
To use the MapOn system, you have to equip your vehicles with GPS/GPRS telemetry equipment. Currently, MapOn is compatible with G-Box proTM (tracking equipment produced by us) and other equipment produced by our cooperation partners. The MapOn system is under rapid development and the list of compatible equipment is constantly updated with new tracking modules. Please check back again for updates!
  3. What are the operating principles?
To determine exact position of your vehicle, the GPS telemetry equipment installed in your vehicle uses data received from satellites. GPRS communications are used to send data to the MapOn data centre for processing and acquisition of other data – vehicle driving speed, stand-by duration, etc. You need only an Internet connection to view this information and no additional software should be purchased or installed.
  4. In which countries I can use MapOn?
GPS signal can be received in almost any country of the world. However, for GPS/GPRS telemetry equipment to send data to the data centre, GSM and GPRS coverage is required.

If your car operates in multiple countries, including ones with no GPRS coverage available, the tracking device can store data received from GPS in its internal memory and send it to the data centre as soon as the GPRS connection is re-established. The technical specification of the tracking device determines the duration of data storage in the internal memory.
  5. What maps does the MapOn runs on?
MapOn uses Google Maps. However, if our customers require a more detailed map of some specific country, our experts will gladly examine possibilities of adding new maps to the system.
